ABSTRACT PAINTING COURSE
ABSTRACT PAINTING COURSE. A 2 day course with Emma Burnett. £295
Our Abstract Painting Course is incredibly good for learning art, whatever your chosen subject. Abstract Painting is also known as Pure Painting. Without the distraction of a subject you can focus on other painting skills; colour choices, colour balance, picture construction, harmony, mood, the value of mark making and how to apply paint in interesting ways. On the Abstract Painting Course we learn lots of interesting mark making techniques and understand the value of layering paint. These skills will then help you with all other subjects such as flower painting or landscape painting.
On the course, we work on several small paintings. Smaller paintings are good for beginners and ‘Abstract Explorers’ because you can give several different techniques and colour choices a go without stress. You can work in the medium of your choice. I have all lovely art materials for you to try; watercolours, acrylics, crayons, pastels and inks. Everything is provided so you don’t need to spend money on art materials before you come and you can see which ones you like using.
Come from 9.30am for a welcome drink and the day finishes at 4.30pm.
We provide all art materials, fresh coffee, cake and a delicious home cooked lunch with wine.
The course is suitable for all standards from complete beginners. Everybody works at their own pace and the group is small allowing for plenty of personal tuition.
To book please phone Emma on 01273 400606 or emma@bradnessgallery.com

WHY IS THIS COURSE GOOD FOR YOUR ART?
In the context of general painting techniques and skills you will learn the following:-
In Abstract Painting, also known as Pure Painting, you cannot hide behind the distraction of a subject so the other painting skills become much more important; colour choices, colour balance, picture construction, harmony, mood, the value of mark making and how to apply paint in interesting ways.
On the Abstract Course we learn lots of interesting mark making techniques and layering. You can then work on 6 small paintings. The smaller ones are good for beginners and ‘Abstract Explorers.

WHAT THE COURSE COVERS
The 2 day course is suitable for complete beginners or those who would like to brush up on basic techniques.
As with all our courses, the subject is a vehicle for learning different artistic skills that build our technical tool kit.
Materials are provided unless you are painting a large canvas. You then bring your own paints and canvas but brushes, knives and sketchbooks are provided.
The aim of this course is to cover many aspects of painting abstracts in order to give you knowledge, inspiration and techniques to help you create your own work. Playing with paint and experimenting and learning how to create effects are more important than taking home a polished painting.
I like to encourage you to develop your own style rather than follow a set, prescriptive style.
Suitable for complete beginners and those who have painted before and wish to rekindle their desire to paint again and brush up on the basic techniques. No drawing skills required.
Coffee, cake and a delicious home cooked, healthy lunch with wine are included.
Arrive from 9.30am, for coffee before a 10am start. The day finishes at 4.30pm.
