WHAT YOU WILL LEARN ON THE COLOUR MIXING AND THEORY COURSE
You will learn ……
- The theory of colour mixing. The primary, secondary and tertiary colours. The colour wheel and why it works and why it doesn't work. How to mix all colours, clean fresh bright, citrus colours and sludgy colours like plums and greys.
- Why colour mixing can fail.
- You will each create a reference sketch book to take home. In it we will mix all colours. I guarantee that by the end of the 2 days you will be confident to mix any colour.
- We will look at colour theory in art like the zing effect and complimentary colours. We will look at some of the great artists and why they used certain colours and colour combinations.
- Applied colour in painting, for example, how to create a sense of depth and distance using colour and tone
- We will introduce the idea of applying colour to create style and mood. For example a restful spa versus a sophisticated restaurant.
- Paint application techniques will look at different ways of mixing colour in a painting. For example, layering.
- How we all see differently and how our eyes can deceive us.
