OUR NEW WILDFLOWER AREA. For a long time we have been wanting to create a wildflower area in our garden. However, wildflowers like dry nutrient poor soil and ours is the opposite. The soil is heavy clay and having been a farm for centuries is so fertile from years of cow poo. So we decided to plant flowers that we knew would thrive on the Beth Chatto ‘right plant, right place’ principle. This is the result and we are delighted. You can sit on the bench by the pots and feel immersed in summer. The bees and insects love it and we have bee boxes up. Our beloved puss cat, Biscuit died on Friday and he is buried on the bank by the Biscuit Bench. RIP Biscuit, we miss you so much.

BEARDED IRIS. These stunningly beautiful Iris flower in our garden in May. On the 3rd and 4th of June this year, our garden will be open for charity in the National Garden Scheme. It is always a fun weekend with delicious cake and tea and lots of cheer and good will. For this painting I used watercolour and ink.
